I bought this for an intro soil science class. I didn't even open it for the class, but it did come in handy as a reference book when I tried to apply some soil science principles to real-world problems later. Over time, we tend to forget things. So it was very useful to keep this textbook so that I could go look up some basic soil science that I forgot over the summer. It's pretty well organized and easy to understand, as long as you got a B or better in a general chemistry class first.

Was required but not required for a class type deal. I didn't use it much which was nice since i just rented it! I would suggest just renting!

I will definitely be buying loose leaf from now on. You can carry it anywhere with you, with as little or many chapters as you like, reducing weight. The condition was new.

The detailed outlay of the book is very enlightening and thorough in its approach to deliver knowledge regarding many things, 'soil'. I have learned a treasure load of goodies from this book regarding the science of soil and other practical implications as well.

I bought this book ($109, new) for a class on soils and the environment. I will be honest, I did not read the whole book. I read a few chapters. I do know that my professor had issues with one or two of the chapters, (chapter 10?), dealing with microbes (so keep an eye out). That being said, its not a hardcover book, and is worded so that you can read it with flow (not choppy writing). This is a good book, I wish books were not as expensive. Shipping was great, arrived on time. The class was great, deep learning about the world of Soils.

It's a textbook, not much to say. But it was clean with no marks in it.

According to my professor, this is one of the very best textbooks on this subject. The course has turned out to be life-changing: there is no life on land without soil!This looseleaf version arrived in perfect condition, well packaged, no dog ears or such. Save some money!

I am using this textbook for my Soils class. It is easy to read and has lovely pictures to help explain topics. I haven't used it as much as I should for the class, but it is helpful when I do. Which probably means I should probably read it some more... :)I ordered this book in loose-leaf form and it works perfectly. I have it in a binder with my lab manual. Don't be afraid to save money!

It describes how a variety of mind-influencing substances, many used by indigenous peoples or in sacred activities, can inspire awe about the universe and transform a person's life. Dr. Richards is extremely knowledgeable about both the sacred and the profane effects. The book is based on extensive, legitimate clinical research in a variety of settings. He discusses a variety of therapeutic and educational uses at great length. I was particularly moved by use of these substances in hospice care at the end of life, and to help individuals with cancer and other major conditions better deal with existential issues.

Based upon decades of rigorous scientific research and careful consideration of how to safely approach the use of entheogens in the study of consciousness, William Richards summarizes a path forward that is at once intensely bold and deeply responsible. Richards refuses to use hyperbole when discussing the promises of this research or devaluation when discussing the policies that currently stand in the way of these promises. This capacity for deep respect is, in itself, a testament to the learning he describes through his own journey of the past five decades.This is the book I've been waiting for - a concise summary of research and new options that I hope will become required reading in the field of psychology and the study of religion. BARBERTON - There's a saying that goes, "When the emotion is love, everyone is a poet". But local 30-something poet Aneil Morgan seems to be an eternal romantic at heart, and for him poetry is part of his existence - something very personal, which he takes very serious. Aneil is currently in the process of publishing a collection of his work, For the love of poetry, written in simple language so that young and old can share in it. But, he already has plans for book two, and says that he has kept some of his "high-phrase" poems for the sequal. Aneil has been writing since an early age. "I always found it hard to speak out and make conversation. The only way I could express myself was through poetry. I grew up in a strict household, always helping others. Later on I developed the skill to write poetry, the words just flowed," he says. But although others wanted to take advantage of his gift, Aneil never abused it. "A lot of acquiantances asked me to write their loved ones poems, but it would be cheating to use my words and not their own. I have a strong belief that the way into someone's heart is through your own words." And that's when friends, family and local teachers started urging him to publish his work. He says that although he was sceptic at the time, they would describe it as very enjoyable. However, Aneil's heart was broken when him and his girlfriend broke up. "I was devastated, nver thought I would love again until Brittney Mary-Jane, also known as Chante, came along," he shares. He poetically describes her, now his girlfriend, as being very special and her heart pure, which made him fall in love with her. "It all began with the poetry, and I knew she is my true love. She also urged me to publish and to me it was a sign that it's the right time and the right thing to do. My love for her brought me to finally reveal my work."
